About Kris K

I was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota. One of the best memories I have, as a child is when I went to Hawaii with my grandparents and great grandmother. I was so excited to see real, live dolphins in their natural habitat, jumping out of the ocean, chasing the boat we were on, that I almost fell over the side! It was a trip I will never forget.
I've always loved music. My dad is a musician, so as a child, I got to see him perform and that kind of set the stage for me. When I was about 5 or 6 years old, I asked my mom if she'd video me telling my favorite joke so we could send it to America's Funniest Kids. I love to talk and make people laugh, but I enjoy meeting new people and hearing about them, too. It's amazing that we're really all alike in so many ways.
My mom remarried when I was 10 years old. I get kind of confused sometimes about how I'm "supposed" to act because I've been the youngest child. My dad had 3 kids when he married my mom. I've been an only child, when my parents divorced. And, I'm now the oldest child because I have three younger sisters. I like to think that I'm well rounded and versatile. I am a go with the flow type girl. I'm also fortunate to have a mom, dad and step dad who love and support me.
Once out of high school, I worked in Optometry for several years and became a mom. I have a beautiful and often too smart for her own good, daughter, named Justice. Trying to figure out a job that I would love to go to every day was easy for me. So, after I got maxed out on the pay scale in Optometry, I attended Brown Institute for Radio and Television Communications in Mendota Heights, and earned a AS in Broadcasting and then it was off to my first job in Watertown, South Dakota. I worked as a drive time announcer on a Country station and really got to find out what I was really made of. After 6 months, I took a job in Fargo at another Country station doing middays. Fargo was too cold for me! It's a fun town, but I couldn't stay there. We were there about 9 months and then I took a job in Decatur, Illinois at yet another Country station. I was further from "home", but the weather was nicer. Not nice enough to fend off the missing home blues, however. So after a year and a half in Illinois, I started looking for something within two hours from the Twin Cities and found Z99! I'm home and not planning on going anywhere anytime soon, so keep listening!
